JC Powerhouse Campaign
Client:
The Jersey City Redevelopment Agency
In the 1990s, a small group of local preservationists lobbied and succeeded in registering the Jersey City Powerhouse in the National Register of Historic Places, saving the building from the wrecking ball. But after decades of neglect, the building was in desperate need of repair and structural stabilization. In 2009, through various grants, work was begun to prevent the elements from doing more damage to the interior of the building.
We proposed the use of a bold scheme to convey creativity and renewal for the new Powerhouse Arts District and developed an awareness campaign through:
painted panels on the building
website
transit advertising
signage
giveaways (t-shirts and lapel pins)
